In February, all core teachers (English, math, science, and social studies) made course recommendations for your child based on the GMS Student Placement Guidelines. You and your child were given the opportunity to select elective courses and were asked to return their initial course request form to the counseling department by February 10th for grade 6 and February 16th for grade 7.
To ensure that you and your child have had an opportunity to make changes to the course requests, Student Course Request forms (white paper) for the 2018-19 school year were distributed on March 27, 2018. At the time of distribution, it was requested that forms be signed and noted with any request for changes.
Our master schedule is built around student requests that are entered into PowerSchool, our student info-mation management system. This information is needed to create a complex master schedule that will provide every student with a full schedule. Making changes after the schedule is built causes conflicts. For these reasons, we are asking that all student course request changes be made prior to June 6.
School counselors, who enter requests will be unavailable after June 6. After June 6, course requests changes must be approved by school administration. Please be advised that there will be no course request changes made on Back To School Night.
It is requested that you speak with your child’s teacher if you are requesting a change in his/her core classes.
