Our Counseling Program at GMS
Students will acquire the academic, career and personal/social skills to maximize their individual potential. Students will pursue excellence and demonstrate creativity, courage, honor, and optimism in their local and global communities.
The mission of Goochland County school counselors is to provide a comprehensive and data-driven program to meet the academic, personal/social and college/career objectives of all students. The Goochland County School Counseling Program is preventative, sequential and based on student growth and developmental needs. School counselors advocate on behalf of students, acknowledge every student’s individual and cultural uniqueness, and empower all students to be life-long learners and contributing members of society. In partnership with students, staff, parents and community members, school counselors facilitate a positive, supportive and culturally-sensitive program that ensures a school community that is a safe, healthy and nurturing environment for all.
- We believe school counselors can make a difference.
- We believe that success is not defined in one way.
- We believe that every child has the potential for success.
- We believe that the actions of stakeholders can help students unlock their potential.
We offer comprehensive services related to personal/social, academic, and career development concerns, and endeavor to assist each of our students in becoming positively contributing members of a global community. We offer services to students through classroom lessons, small groups, and individual counseling.
