Goochland Middle School offers students the opportunity to tryout and compete for the school in many different sports, see the season information below for more details on what is offered.

Athletics plays a vital role in the development of our children by providing a stable, organized environment in which student athletes are taught many core values such as integrity, excellence, service, teamwork, punctuality, collaboration, accountability, respect, and leadership skills.  Athletics also support the entire community by providing a sense of pride and belonging.

A VHSL (Virginia High School League) physical form is required for tryouts and participation in all athletic teams. Click here to download a copy.

•  VHSL mandates that a physical examination be completed yearly. It must be dated after May 1 of the current year and will be valid until June 30th of the following year. Basically, they are valid for 1 school year.

• For the 2024-25 school year a valid physical must occur after May 1, 2024. It will be considered valid until June 30, 2025 as long as a licensed medical professional certifies it.

• The physical must be completed before participating in any Middle School or High School group that requires physical activity and is sanctioned by the VHSL (Athletics, Marching band, etc).

• Most urgent care facilities can perform the physical for a nominal fee.
