GMS baseball tryouts will be held Feb 26-28th immediately after school. Students will need a current physical on file to participate. Students will need to bring all necessary equipment to the tryouts. There will be a meeting FRIDAY FEBRUARY 21st during Eagle Block.
We're excited to share a wonderful reading incentive program sponsored by Goochland Restaurant! Students can earn free rewards by reading and tracking their progress. Here's how it works: Students will receive a bookmark to log their reading. After completing 8 books, they can bring their bookmark to Goochland Restaurant and choose a reward: a free drink plus either fries, onion rings, or a cookie. The best part? Students can complete multiple bookmarks and earn multiple rewards (see Mrs. Dewey in the LC for additional bookmarks)! We hope this program encourages and celebrates our students' reading achievements.

Today the 8th grade students had the chance to visit the career fair in the GHS gym. Students talked to representatives from a variety of careers and got a chance to see what they might be interested in exploring once they finished high school!

Ms. Roe and Ms. Dreyfuss Earth Science classes did some work in fossil stations coming back from winter break! They practiced trace fossils and mold and cast fossils using play-doh, foil, plastic dinos, and silicone fossil molds!

We know you still have a few more days of Winter Break, but there’s a new 📘Beanstack Challenge📚 for January! If you complete 300 reading minutes (5 hours for the whole month), and complete a few simple activities, you can earn PBIS points and a small prize from the LC. 📢 ‼️Additionally, our school has the chance to earn prizes through Beanstack if we read more than other participating schools, so help GMS win 🏆 by logging your minutes⏱️! You can log minutes while you’re reading over the break and throughout the month of January (and beyond, of course)!
Our Student PBIS Team hosted a Holiday Gift Grab & Raffle the week before break! Students earned PBIS Points by finding gift cutouts & enjoyed a raffle with prizes like a drone & designer pouch. The team also ran the SOAR Store—showing creativity and leadership!

Mr. Tate's Inventions and Innovations students showcased their final Adaptive Technology projects today! Each class that completed the project selected a 'tribute' and they presented to a panel of judges, including Dr. Chu from VCU. All the students at the final presentation did an amazing job!

QUEST students show off their knowledge in a passion project today! The last few weeks have been a whirlwind of research, planning, project creation, and presentation practice inside of Room R219, and it showed today in a very successful way!

We have been doing the 12 Days of Cheer at GMS! Teachers have enjoyed drink cart deliveries, movies and popcorn during lunch, and some games during their planning period all leading up to winter break.

Congratulations to our robotics team, the Junkyard Pups, for their competition this past weekend! They won a qualifying match and went through multiple iterations with their robot, making growth each round.
