🚨 GCPS Update 🚨

We have been monitoring the forecast for Monday, and due to the elevated risk of extended severe weather, including widespread damaging winds, strong tornadoes, and large hail, GCPS will be closed tomorrow, March 16.

The uncertain timing of the storms could put our buses and students on the road as conditions worsen, even in the event of an early dismissal. Out of an abundance of caution, we have made the decision to close schools. We recognize the disruption this causes and thank you for your understanding and flexibility.

French II is monumental! 🇫🇷 Students designed and 3D printed a monument from a french-speaking country. Seeing these monuments come to life layer-by-layer is the ultimate way to blend Art, Tech, and History.

From pulley systems to pendulum swings, the creativity in this room is off the charts! It wasn't just about falling dominoes and rolling marbles, it was about critical thinking, resilience, and collaboration. These students aren't just building machines; they’re building the mindset of a future innovator.

❤️ Community Helping Community! ❤️ Today, volunteers came together for a Generosity Feeds Meal Creation Event, packaging 3,000 meals to help fight child hunger locally. This impactful event was organized by Goochland High School senior Sophia Weller as part of her senior project, and we are so proud of the leadership and service she demonstrated. A special thank you to our amazing partners who helped make this event possible: 👏 Goochland Rotary Club 👏 Backpacks of Love 👏 Goochland High School Interact Club 👏 The Replenish Foundation Together, we are making a difference for Goochland families. ❤️💛🐾

Our Eagles did a Sphero coding challenge, sending the robots through 3 different room mazes. We love seeing how a great book can spark a passion for science and engineering! Who said test prep had to be boring?🤖✨Mr. Baird’s class just turned their study guide into a high-stakes obstacle course! Students coded Spheros to navigate checkpoints, unlocking science questions at every turn.

The goal? Accuracy + Speed. The prize? Sweet, sweet extra credit. 🏆💻

History came to life today in the Learning Commons! 🪖Today, Ms. Voss and Mr. Dressel's students utilized the Learning Commons for a multi-sensory deep dive into WWI trench warfare. By combining immersive audio, visual archives, and perspective-building exercises, our students gained a profound understanding of the soldier's experience.
